At Secret Garden Bees®, we produce delicious raw honey on our 22-acre family farm in Linden, North Carolina. Our owner and founder, Jim Hartman, cares for our honeybees day in and day out throughout the year, diligently watching over our hives in a field of clover and wildflower.
But before Jim became a beekeeper and even had the thought to start a honey farm, he spent time serving our country in the army as an Explosive Ordinance Disposal Officer. Once he left the military, Jim decided to put his land to good use and fulfill his passion of becoming a full-time farmer and beekeeper.
Because Jim is a disabled veteran, our business has earned the designation of a disabled veteran owned business. This designation is strictly reserved for entrepreneurs who are veterans, active-duty military, reservists, or service-disabled veterans who dedicated time to serving in the U.S. Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, or National Guard.
As a disabled veteran owned business, we receive access to specialized Small Business Administration programs that provide capital and preparation for small business opportunities. This designation also gives us connections to federal procurement and commercial supply chains, as well as priority for contracts through the Department of Veterans Affairs.
When you support our disabled veteran owned business, you also support our troops and our country. To learn more about what it means to run a disabled veteran owned business or find out more about our thriving honey farm, reach out to us today.
